    Default My new acquisitions

The last members of my multimeters collection.

    1) An AVO Multiminor MK5.

    2) An AVO 8 MK5 with its leather case. Huge size (170 x 195 x 115 mm / 6.7 x 7.7 x 4.5 inch). Photo is not mine, but are the same stuff.

Both need to be calibrated, clean contacts and the movement etc. I like them.

I bought just right now this top-of-the-line Fluke 289 True RMS logging Multimeter (0.03% VCC precision, 0.05% ohm precision, can read dual different values etc). Probably I will send it to do a proper lab calibration.

777€ price list, bought for 320€.

Could you also post a picture of your Git-o-Meter? Or is it just a mirror with tiny tiny calibrations?

Looks like you reversed the image of the dial! Please correct for the sake of accuracy.

    PS I also did a foto . . . Grounded.jpg

Lol, if that end is 100% accurate as well then the llamatart is in real trouble.
I use to calibrate AVO meters amongst other kit back in the seventies. Quite a delicate and sometimes time consuming process just to zero and balance these, moving the weights on the dial movement. Had to be zero within certain limits laid down, stood up or at a 45 degrees. Lovely solid reliable kit though. My favourite was the Model 7. Wish I still had mine (lent it and it was destroyed in a fire- no fault of the borrower)). Have a 20 year old fluke digital multimeter, which has seen better days.

I do prefer digital stuff to work, but I like a lot that analog things, even better than digital for some things as to have a fast sight by testing bad caps.

And I'm having a 2nd youth having a good time with them, they were prohibitive for me in 1980's.

hahaha, "2nd youth" -- you are only young once, but you can be immature for your entire life!
